NaNoWriMo Day #2: Earning the Secret Noveling Badge at a Baby Shower

Thumb Under your desk. In a public bathroom stall. On a horse. If you’ve “noveled” someplace you probably shouldn’t have, give yourself this badge.

Okay.

So, I knew I wasn’t going to get much writing done on Day Two. I had a baby shower to go to. A party for my boyfriend’s father’s best friend’s son’s pregnant girlfriend. Couldn’t make this up even if I tried. How I even got invited to this baby shower is still a mystery to me.

Anyways, no judging, but it wasn’t the most exciting baby shower. The mother-to-be didn’t even get around to opening presents. And there were no games like “measure the belly” or “guess how many diapers are in the jar” or whatever.

While hanging out with my boyfriend’s family was fun, and while all things baby made my biological clock wiggle, I still needed something to pass the time. So, I may have done some NaNoWriMo writing on my phone, next to blue balloons and confetti and a very curious boyfriend who kept trying to sneak a peak at my work. I only got about 700-800 words done on Day Two. Which means I’m already behind, but I’m planning to do some catching up on Day Three.

Does writing at a baby shower count as secret noveling? What badges have you earned? And how is NaNoWriMo treating you guys so far?

Write with Heart,

Lady Jabberwocky
