(In character): I spent my childhood (1976-1994) in Plumdale, a rural area in the hills just a few miles inland from the Pacific coast. Plumdale is near two medium-sized cities, and about an hour drive from a large metropolitan area. Plumdale was traditionally populated by lower-middle-class country folk, but in the 1980s the technology boom hit many major cities on the West Coast, driving up property values and driving commuters to far-flung suburbs. So Plumdale became an unlikely mix of country people and techie Yuppies. And I do not fit in with either group…

She grew up in the well-off city of Pekrios, surrounded by her family’s wealth and others’ good fortune. Though her parents did their best to raise her like other children, her circumstances couldn’t help but spoil her. When danger came to her homeland and she had to step up and stop it, she was plunged into the unrelenting chaos of the real world and realized how unprepared she truly was.
