She shared the moods
Of the sea.
I slept under her
Lavender blankets
Drawing skies
And heavy brow.
I laid my head across
Her lap
As warm waters
Licked faded cobbled beaches,
Waiting for the clean
Light of day.
And she sang to me
Through the voices
Of gulls and fishers,
A song that could
Make one cry.
It did.
The joy of it
